What if everything you ever did was recorded? Would that change the things you do, say and think?
Think about it. From now until the end of the World, this is how you will be remembered.
The choices you make, the things you say to other people (family, friends & strangers) impacts your history and the history you help forge for others. Maybe you don’t see how much your life acts as an influence on others, but it does. Directly and indirectly by what you leave behind. From:
- The quality of your work
- Comments on a blog
- What you say/do when someone cuts you off while driving
- The photos you upload on Facebook
- How you influence your friends to their friends to their friends and family with the things you share and words you say
Maybe your first reaction is “Omg, I’m screwed, I’ve done a lot of bad things.” True enough, but wouldn’t it be better to be remembered as someone who went from doing horrible things to really amazing things? Everyone loves a good transformation. I hear Bill Gates was a huge dick growing up, but look at him now according to Forbes.
The Point: You’re never just a speck in the bigger picture and it’s never too late to start doing the right thing. And there’s no excuse big enough other than your own sheer stupidity to not being awesome.
I’m not “special”
Less we forget how crazy most ‘amazing’ people are. We each have a talent like no other, simply with our genome mix being so different. So, if you don’t think you’re amazing, I’m sure people felt the same way about amazing crazy people like Einstein, Piccaso, Aristotle, Nikola Tesla, Sir Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Stephen Hawking, Steve Jobs, Cleopatra and Marie Curie. Each one was bonafied crazy somehow, like you and me. The big difference between normal folk and ‘special’ people that the world remembers is…they didn’t let anyone stop them from dreaming and thinking different, and even more importantly they did instead of of did nothing.
“It’s hard to stay sane. But it’s a choice. Be happy or not. Both are your fault.” Unknown.
So what if we were all accountable for our thoughts and actions? Think about it.
I think it would lead to a world where every word, message, desire, and action counted for something. Don’t just do the easy thing. Don’t just do the simple thing, because it’s guaranteed and what’s minimally required. Do amazing things because that’s what’s really in your heart.
Make change. Make every opportunity matter by doing the right thing. Because when it comes down to it….
How do you want to be remembered?

On a personal note, one of most influential people in my life is my grandfather. He taught me that I can be more than just a girlie girl; in fact I can be a welder, woodworker and lover of machines.
