There’s a lot of talk about this whole Higgs Boson and the Large Haedron Collider. But what are they exactly and why should you care?
It’s all about the universe and its weight problem. Mass to be exact. To keep it simple, without mass, existence would just be a bunch of stuff travelling at the speed of light. Instead of a perpetual time warp, the Higgs field causes ‘stuff’ to clump together to become planets, plants and you and me. Kind of a big deal. Here it is explained by actual scientists:
Yes, this video is 59 minutes long. But trust me, it’s worth it.
I don’t expect you to stare at it solely like a good little student. We both know you have better things to do. Plus you’re just as much of a geek as me with your second monitor/tv hooked up to a media center. So put it on while you work. Learn and get stuff done.
The outcome: you’re even smarter than you are and have a better understanding of how the universe/world work.
